Happy Hatters, one of the highest honors we are given is the honor of praying for others and we have several in our group in need of prayer. We mentioned some at our last meeting, but today I received a request from Cinnamon Hindman, the young lady that help me with the hats and mailings. Her house was struck by lightening Sunday night and it knocked out all their electronics and she said it was amazing that it did not burn down. There were home at the time, but God's protection surrounded her, her husband and her twin daughters, so that no physical harm came to them. They have a lot of repairs to be made, and those of us who have gone through repairs on our homes, know how stressful this can be, In addition, she is scheduled for surgery October 25th. So, please come together with me and lift up Cinnamon and her family.
Joyce Jackson and I were honored to once again (4th year) participate as Happy Hat Representatives in the Baby Expo at Carl R. Darnall Medical Center at Ft. Hood last Saturday. We were both blessed beyond measure in gifting over 300 baby hats, 100 adult hats and prayer squares too numerous to even keep track of. While we were there, we visited with Joyce Granddaughter, Jessie, her Grandson-in-law, Chance (both stationed at Ft. Hood) and their two precious little girls. Chance is being deployed to Afghanistan on the 28th for 9 months and Jessie was also scheduled to be deployed at the same time; however, she has a shoulder injury requiring surgery and a 6-month recovery, so Chance may be home before she is deployed, if not, Joyce's daughter will care for the little girls until they return. This just brings home how much our military sacrifice for us. Please add this sweet couple to your prayer list.
If you attended the last meeting, you were a part of the discussion on the revamping of Happy Hats - well, God now has most of the needs covered. Cinnamon has volunteered to assume the hats inventory/mailings and we will transition it fully over to her first of 2020. Since she is taking on the part I physically was unable to continue, I will not continue to lead Happy Hats, concentrating on our meetings, agendas, etc. Judy Myers and Sandra Tanner have agreed to continue in their roles as Devotional/Prayer Leader and Treasurer, respectively. Susan Houser will continue being our webmaster. Clarica Burns will continue as the keep of our yarn closet, but I believe it would be helpful to her if she had a list of ladies willing to help when the need arises to organize, buy yarn, etc. Although she has not asked for help, I know she would appreciate it. Maria Jones will continue to handle our requests for hats. Marylou Vulgamore will also continue to coordinate prayers squares and hat deliveries to our Crockett and Seguin Elementary Schools. We are still in need of at least two ladies to commit to arrive early on meeting day, set up the tables, take care of the food and then clean up.
Joyce Jackson and I met at the church yesterday and pulled three blanket sets for soldiers at Ft. Hood and the remaining blankets/sets were mailed to Operation Shower. We had some beautiful blankets/sets to gift!
Good News! We finally have a wall to place our items received in recognition of this ministry. The items will be hung on the wall in the fellowship hall next to the stairs. When you see Donnie O'Fallon, please tell him thank you! We have been trying to get a space almost since Happy Hats started almost 10 years ago. Now, I am back to my request for a larger area to store our yarn and hats together (preferably on the ground floor).
I am missing the 3-ring binder and sign-in spiral notebook I placed on our Happy Hats cabinet in reception area after last meeting. If you have seen these items, please either let me know or put them in the cabinet. The binder is really important because it contains a lot of our records.
Thank you ladies for all you do. God continues to work through each of you to share his love through Happy Hats.
