Message Board for Happy Hats
NOTE FROM SHIRLEY: Happy Hat drop off Monday, August 17th 10 am - 2 pm
Happy Hatters, don't forget to drop off your hats next Monday from 10:00-2:00. Collection will be in the church lobby and yarn will be again be available for those who need more yarn. If you do not see a yarn you need, please let Clarica Burns know and she will get ordered for you. All hats must have a tag/card on them and, please make sure they are infant size (6" long and 12"-14" in diameter). As always, patterns and specifications are on our page of the church's website (www.nsbcweatherford,com). If you were one of the ones that enjoyed making the prayer squares, we are in need of more squares (we have 14 left in our inventory after gifting 10 to NSBC's Grief Share Ministry).
For those of you who utilize Facebook, please remember we have a page (NSBC Happy Hats Ministry) where you can not only post information related to Happy Hats, but see the latest news. I posted yesterday about a call I received from the person who is over all the baby wards at the hospital at the San Antonio Joint Military Hospital. She was calling to find out more about our ministry and tell us how wonderful and appreciated our hats are. I told her we first visited and gifted hats there when we were in town for an Operation Shower event and that's when we met "our" Michelle Plasterer. She knew Michelle and Michelle worked under her. She got a laugh when I told her that even though we had suspended our meetings for now, we still collect hats for mailing once a month, and with some of us not getting out, we've become "hat factories" (I admit I am one of those), I told her each hat is prayed over and our hope is each recipient feels the blessings as they receive the hat.
I hope you each are healthy and staying safe. Please remember to continue to pray for this ministry - God reaches so many people through this little ministry one hat at a time.
I'll keep you posted on when we might resume meeting, but I feel it is still several months away. We will continue to collect hats each month until we do meet again.

Message from Shirley:
I pray you each are staying in when possible and staying safe. We will not be meeting Monday - our next meeting will be in June. Please do not turn in any hats to the church office, but hold them until the meeting in June. There is no one right now who is working with the hats. Thank you for your cooperation.
Remember in these trying times, God is still on the throne and He is still in control. Please pray for our country and leaders to make Godly decisions regarding this horrible plague that has affected so many and also for those battling this illness and those who have lost loved ones.
Be safe and stay strong!
Ladies, with all that is going on, I have made the decision to suspend all hat shipments until at least May (we'll visit it again at that time). I did not want Cinnamon to have to worry about mailings and all of us dropping hats off at the church when some do not need to be out. This is an uncertain time for our world, but one thing remains the same and that is God in in control and this, too, will pass. There was someone on Facebook (I shared) about how God knows how to get our attention - well He has it, doesn't he?
I am mailing letters to all the recipients of our hats letting them know that we are temporarily suspending our hat mailings. It was not an easy decision because I know how much we all love sending these hats and how much the new or expectant parents love receiving the hats, but I really think this is the prudent thing to do at this time.
You should have all gotten a draft of the directory from Cinnamon. At your earliest convenience, please review your information (and that of others) and let her know if any changes need to be made.
We will not be having our April off-site luncheon and probably not our April regular meeting, but I will keep you posted. Please take care of yourself, listen to the experts and "social distance," and only get out of your home for necessary errands. Let me know if you need anything and, you can also call the church and they can help with any needs you might have.
Hang in there - God has this....and, as I said earlier, He is in control. Please pray for our world, our country, our military, leaders, first responders, healthcare workers and others that must continue to work and serve us at this time.
