What To Expect

NSBC offers two styles of worship services: Contemporary Worship and Blended Worship. The Contemporary Worship service is led by a full band and focuses on drawing the congregation into the presence of God through contemporary worship songs. The Contemporary service meets at 9:30am and is geared towards those attending Bible Study at 11:00am. The Blended Worship service meets at 11:00am and is a mix of contemporary worship songs and modern hymns and is designed to serve those attending Bible Study at 9:30am. NSBC encourages visitors to attend both services to determine which is the best fit for them and their families.

If you have children, you will find the information below
helpful to navigating your first visit to NSBC.

Parents of Preschoolers

Attending church with preschool children can be challenging, but we have tried to make it easier by providing a safe and caring preschool area for children to learn about Jesus while parents attend a service or Bible study. The preschool workers are equipped to care for children, and the area is designed to ensure the safety of the children. Parents can park on the north side of the campus and enter through the Children's Building entrance to check-in their children at the large red desk, where they will receive nametags and security tags with unique numbers for pick-up after the service. If the north lot is full, parents can park in any other lot and ask for directions from the Guest Services Team to the preschool area. North Side aims to make attending church as easy and stress-free as possible for parents of preschool children.

Parents of Elementary Kids

Our church believes in partnering with parents to help spiritually form their children, and we design our worship services and children's Bible study classes with this in mind. We encourage families with children in kindergarten and up to attend worship services together as it helps children learn by example and see the importance of worship, prayer, Bible teaching, and giving. Children from kindergarten to 4th grade can attend Bible study classes in the Children's Theater, while children in 5th and 6th grades can attend the PreTeen Ministry at 11:00. The Bible study classes are led by teachers during both the 9:30 and 11:00 worship hours. The church seeks to make it easy for families to attend worship services and Bible study classes together, so parents can partner with the church in the spiritual formation of their children.

Parents of Teens

The contemporary service is popular among teenagers. To build community and encourage students to worship together, North Side has decided to have only one Bible study hour (11:00am) for middle and high school students. This schedule allows all students to gather for Bible study at the same time and enables the youth staff to worship with their families. Since the MSM and HSM Bible Studies follow the contemporary worship service at 9:30 am, parents of MSM or HSM students can attend one of the church's Bible study classes during the 11:00 hour. We  provides a Bible Study Guide to help parents choose a class to attend. It is recommended that parents pick a spot to meet their students after Bible Study to avoid anyone getting lost on the large campus. North Side is excited about how this approach has positively impacted student ministries.

Adult Bible Studies & Classes

In addition to our two worship services each Sunday we also offer adult Bible Studies for every age group at both 9:30 and 11:00am.  For more information on these please visit our Bible Study page or download our Bible Study Guide.

How Should I Dress?

We're more concerned with meeting your real-life needs than with what you wear. Our atmosphere is comfortable, relaxed, and friendly, and typical dress varies from casual to corporate casual. You'll see a few ties, but you'll see just as many cowboy boots and jeans, we are in Texas after all!

How Early Should I Arrive?

We recommend you plan on arriving to the campus at least 15-20 minutes before the service starts. That will give you time to park, check in your kids, and grab a cup of coffee before the service begins. Then you'll want to make sure you get into the Worship Center before the music starts. We stand when we sing, and it can be a challenge to know which seats are empty when everyone is standing up. On busy Sundays, our Guest Services Team will be available to assist.

Where Should I Park?

We have several parking lots adjacent to our property, however these often fill to capacity. In addition, we offer two remote lots with shuttle service to our Worship Center and Children's Building Entrances. See the map of our campus and parking lots for details. The Bowie Lot is located behind the James Bowie Learning Center, which is accessed from Edna Street (through the campus of Couts United Methodist Church). The West Lot is located on the west side of Main Street, across from NSBC. If you park in the West Lot, please wait for a shuttle. It is a dangerous walk across Main Street, and we don’t want anyone getting hurt!

A Church for Every Generation

North Side truly is a church for every generation. The city of Weatherford was founded in 1858, and the first railroad tracks entered the city limits just over 20 years later in 1880. By the mid-1890s, Weatherford was home to 5,000 people, three newspapers, 100 businesses, and seven churches. NSBC opened their doors to serve the residents who lived north of the downtown area on June 14, 1897, and has served the city faithfully since that very first Sunday service.

Today, we are focused on continuing to grow as a church that ministers to the whole family. By that we mean more than just mom, dad, and the kiddos. We also include grandma, grandpa, and even great-grandma and great-grandpa! One of the characteristics that makes us unique in the modern church era is that we are intentionally multi-generational. We simply believe that faith is best expressed in the context of a family that includes every living generation. Our senior adults are blessed to see young families bringing their children to church. They enjoy the programs put on by our children and youth, and they are proud to bring their adult children to church when they visit. Conversely, our little guys get to learn how to respect the generations who have gone before them. They learn that life isn’t all about the young and active, and sometimes we must slow down to allow an older person with a walker to get through a door. The parents of our kiddos are reminded that we have a beautiful campus because five generations of believers who came before us faithfully supported the work of the church with their time and resources. Our church continues today as we take our place in continuing ministry and support.

It is this beautiful harmony of old and young worshiping and serving the Lord together that makes North Side a Church for Every Generation.

How can I find out more about North Side?

At North Side there is something for everyone. One of the best ways to make connections, grow relationships, and be challenged in God’s Word is through one of our small group Bible Studies. Classes are offered for all ages on Sundays at 9:30 & 11:00am and many of these classes also meet at other times during the week. In addition, our Women's Ministry and Men's Ministry provide additional small group Bible studies throughout the week. Another way to find out about our church is to attend a Connection Class. The Connection Class is held once a month and will help you learn about our beliefs, history, mission, and vision for the future. It’s a fun, informative investment of your time, and you’ll also enjoy light refreshments. To discover what discipleship and ministries opportunities are currently available, you can always swing by Guest Services on Sunday before or after the service.
