EIGHT is an evangelistic tool that shares the Good News through the lens of the events from the Triumphal Entry (Palm Sunday) to the Resurrection (Easter Sunday). Our hope is that it helps you share your faith with those who do not yet have a relationship with Jesus.
Day 1 – Palm Sunday: Mark 11:1-11
As Jesus rode in on a donkey, he was making public declaration that the Kingdom of God had come to earth. As He came into Jerusalem, the people welcomed Him in because they thought we would lead them in a revolt against Rome. But Jesus came to bring a different kind of peace.
-John 14:27
Day 2 – Jesus Clears the Temple: Mark 11:15-19
Jesus went into the temple complex and turned over the tables because of the sin that had entered in the place. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” It is imperative that each person sees that they have fallen short of God’s standard – just like those in the temple.
-Romans 3:23
Day 3 – Jesus Confronts Leaders: Mark 12:28-34
Jesus confronted religious leaders on Tuesday. Jesus confronts our sin as well. Our sin has put us at odds with God, but Christ came to restore us. Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
-Romans 6:23
Day 4 – Jesus Anointed: Mark 14:3–9
On Wednesday, Jesus was anointed with expensive perfume. Jesus is worthy of any praise and adoration we can give him. While on earth, He demonstrated He is deity and fully man. As a man, He lived as sinless life, and he is the spotless sacrifice for mankind.
-1 Peter 1:18–19
Day 5 – The Garden: Mark 14:32-42
After the Last Supper, Jesus and His disciples went to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray. Throughout the scripture, Jesus teaches about the importance of prayer. Prayer is a response to God by which we petition God for his work through our adoration, confession, thanksgiving, and supplication. Prayer is an important spiritual practice in which we speak to God.
-Romans 10:9
Day 6 – The Cross: Mark 15:33-39
On Friday, Jesus is nailed to and died on the cross for our sins. The penalty for sin cannot go unpunished, so Jesus died in the place of sinners. Since we are sinners, the Bible says Jesus, who is “rich in mercy,” died in our place. His sacrifice on the cross made a way for us to be reconciled to God. His willingness to die in our place is the ultimate act of love. He is placed in a burial tomb after His death is realized.
-John 15:13
Day 7 – The Guarded Tomb/Fearful Disciples: Matt 27:62-66
After the death of Jesus, his disciples mourned his passing as they did not fully understand what Jesus would do. The Jewish leaders had one aim: make sure Jesus’ tomb remained sealed and His body was not removed. The Roman Guard was put into place to make sure Jesus’ body stayed in the tomb.
-1 Corinthians 15:17
Day 8 – The Resurrection: Mark 16:1-8
On Sunday, the women went to the tomb and there was a violent earthquake. The women found that the tomb was no longer sealed, and the guards “became like dead men.” The angel told the women, “Don’t be afraid…He is not here! For He has risen, just as he said…Come and see the place where he lay…The go quickly and tell his disciples” (Matthew 28:5-7). Death could not hold Jesus. He defeated death and is alive! His resurrection proves He alone conquered sin and death!
-1 Corinthians 15:55-57
How will you respond to King Jesus’ sinless life, death, burial, and resurrection?
Mark 1:15 says, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”
Mark 1:17 says, “Follow me,” Jesus told them, “and I will make you fish for people.”
Will you REPENT of your sins? Will you BELIEVE the good news? Will you FOLLOW Jesus as a result of your repentance and belief?
If you will, call out to him with a prayer from your heart that is like this one:
“Heavenly Father, I acknowledge that the time is now, and Your kingdom has come. I repent of my sins and receive the new life you give me. I believe in the gospel—that Jesus Christ died for my sins and rose again. I place my trust in You, Lord Jesus, as my Savior. Help me to follow You and share Your love with others. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus' name, Amen.”
Having responded to the Gospel, you are now a child of God. Welcome to the family! You have been forgiven of your sins. You are reconciled to God. You are a brother or sister in Christ. You have been filled with God’s presence, and you have eternal life!
